My focus areas, as a Councilman will be controlling overdevelopment, reducing traffic, and maintaining residents' over-all quality of life, while being fiscally responsible.
Overdevelopment
Edison has been at the mercy of developers, for far too long! To reign in overdevelopment, I plan to do the following.
- Reintroduce the Public Advocate Ordinance and vote YES!
- Demand existing ordinances are strictly enforced
- Examine ordinances and close loopholes, which benefit developers
- Introduce strict ordinances, which represent residents
- Work with the Planning and Zoning Boards to limit variances and adhere to the Master Plan
Traffic
Traffic in Edison is a nightmare and requires much improvement! The following items are on my agenda.
- Request an inhouse traffic study of township primary and secondary roads
- Work with the Planning Board/Engineering Department to immediately identify and implement improvements
- Demand the County and State review their roads and makes necessary corrections
- Suggest the Police Department increase patrols in high traffic areas
- Require immediate resident notification of potential traffic hazards
- Request residents are provided advance notice of road construction and detour routes
Quality of Life
The quality of life for Edison residents is endangered! I believe the following requires improvement.
- Residents need to be heard, understood, and most importantly respected
- Resident concerns need prompt attention
- Accurate swift answers should be afforded to residents
- Prompt public communication regarding crimes and other hazards are needed by residents
- Ordinances must be enforced
Fiscal Responsibility
The current economy dictates strict accurate budgets and fiscal responsibility! Fiscal responsibility requires the following steps.
- Limit unnecessary spending
- Capitalize on state and Federal funding/grants
- Reduce wasteful spending
- Proper planning and budgeting
- Timely budget preparation and introduction
- Optimizing department efficiency and redistributing resources, as needed
